Rot as Colour and as Pattern

The colour that appears when matter continues to transform.

This project begins with textile fragments that have been in contact with decomposing organic matter. Instead of understanding that process as something finished, the fabrics are subjected to a new transformation through boiling.

I am interested in accompanying matter beyond the point at which we would normally consider it finished or discarded. During the boiling process, the remains release soft and unexpected pigments, while traces of the process stay inscribed on the fabric.

The work does not seek to represent decomposition, but to observe what can appear when matter that seems exhausted is still active. Colour emerges as residue, as memory and as the possibility of a new form.
