Petri: Small Fields of Decay
Observing how matter transforms when we change the way we look.
In this project, I work with organic remains placed in Petri dishes on textile surfaces. Instead of controlling the result, I allow time, humidity and biological processes to generate new images, colours and material forms.
I am interested in decomposition not as deterioration, but as a form of reorganisation. What we usually associate with residue or loss begins to produce new visual relationships. Depending on the attention and perspective from which it is observed, what first seems insignificant or uncomfortable can appear as something strange, alive and beautiful.
The images that emerge from this process later become a starting point for new textile developments. Transformed matter moves from residue to image, from image to pattern, and from pattern to a new way of relating to fabric.
