Agencies
Relation, complexity and counterintuition.
This project begins with a central idea in my work: nothing exists in isolation. Matter gains meaning in relation to other matter, to a gesture, to time and to a way of looking.
I work with textile, paper, pigment and drawing as elements that affect one another. When they enter into relation, a complexity appears that cannot be fully controlled: pigment moves, fabric absorbs, paper registers, the gesture removes or intervenes again. Form does not arise from a single decision, but from many forces acting at once.
In this process, counterintuition plays an important role. Sometimes creating is not about adding, but about removing; not about fixing an image, but about allowing the materials to change the direction of the work. From this approach, paper, pigment and textile stop being separate elements and become part of a new material body: an agency in which everything remains in relation.
